Teacher
The Early Learning Center is currently accepting applications for teachers. Interested applicants should complete an employment application and background check consent form, and send them along with a resume to the Minister for Operations at Glen Mar Church, using the address at the bottom of the page.
Minimum age 19, warm friendly personality, sensitive to needs of others, relates well to children and parents, and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Glen Mar Early Learning Center program and philosophy.
Must meet requirements of the Office of Child Care and/or accreditation organizations which could be:
- 90 hour certificate in Early Childhood Education
- CDA
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for Early Childhood Education
- 1 year of experience teaching preschool children.
- Responsible for development and implementation of appropriate preschool programming for young children to build their esteem and to meet their physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs.
- Prepares weekly lesson plans with a variety of experiences and activities and contributes to monthly newsletter.
- Provides a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
- Models good habits for communication, behavior, nutrition, and cleanliness.
- Participates in school activities.
- Supervises children and follows policies and procedures to protect in emergencies and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Communicates with parents in formal conferences and regularly about their child’s development.
- Participates in program administration and protocols to ensure timely preparation of lesson plans, purchases needed, records and files, and developmental progress of children.
- Other duties as assigned.
Assistant Teacher
The Early Learning Center is currently accepting applications for assistant teachers. Minimum age 18, warm friendly personality, sensitive to needs of others, relates well to children and parents, and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance the the Glen Mar Early Learning Center program and philosophy.
- High school grad or equivalent
- 90 hr certificate in early childhood education or working toward this.
- Assists in all areas of classrooms and play activities including planning, gathering materials and supplies for classes, general organization and housekeeping of the area for children, professional in attitude and treatment of children with warmth, dignity and respect.
- Participation in staff meetings, center activities and training.
- Assists in supervision and maintenance of a safe environment conducive to learning for children.
- Reports problems and contributes to communication with parents.
- Familiar with the NAEYC’s code of ethics, Office of Child Care safety requirements and models healthy behavior and boundaries.
- Stamina and strength to keep up with children.
- Other duties as assigned.
